Compare Observations - Whether students build their own radio telescope or not, they can compare observations from various ground-based observatories around the world using the specialized Skypipe software. This is a good activity for students who want to do something that requires some knowledge of computer skills, usually at a middle school level and above. Simple comparison of ground-based radio observatories can be done using web browsers on computers connected to the network. In Part I, students can use the easily accessible radio emission chart recordings to determine when an increase in radio wave emissions occurs. In Part II, students can download software that allows them to listen to radio emissions and make comparisons among charts from telescopes around the world.
