February 22 and March 1
Live Webcast:
Live From Poker Flat, Alaska
Live and Interactive events: really, truly, "live from the aurora"--with
luck!
In order to create the real-time interactions that will be seen during the
March 18 broadcast, P2K is arranging two, 2-hour live telecasts direct from
Poker Flat, Alaska. While the primary purpose of these telecasts is to
create on-camera interaction between students staying up late to watch the
aurora (we hope!) in real time and the researchers and support team at Poker
Flat, REGISTERED SCHOOLS, SCIENCE CENTERS and PLANETARIUMS will be able to
view the programming via NASA-TV. This will be raw, real-time video and we
are not encouraging PBS stations to air this live since it will be formatted
primarily to facilitate interaction between Poker and the live sites (The
Imaginarium, Anchorage, AK, and Fernbank Science Center, Atlanta, GA on Feb
22; Baltimore Science Center, MD and the Chabot Space and Science Center,
Oakland on March 1.) No sites have permission to videotape and re-use these
live interactions. However, upon registration, a non-commercial public
institution may host live viewing of the feeds via NASA-TV.
To register, go to the opening page of
P2K's LIVE FROM THE AURORA website,
and complete and submit the online form you'll find there. (Coming
soon--late in the day of Monday January 13!)
Feed times are:
